Description: Polygons representing open land that is curated by the city. This includes everything from regularly mowed turf, to landscaped planting beds, to native vegetative buffer areas.
Description: These polygons show buildings that have solar panels installed. The permit number is given, as well as notes about the project. This data is not updated automatically when permits are pulled, it is updated periodically or as needed, so it may take some time for new solar panels to appear in this mapping.
Description: Polygon grid where each cell of the grid defines a 1000m by 1000m (1km by 1 km) square, used to assign a spatial address according to the United States National Grid. The United States National Grid (USNG) has been a Minnesota state government geospatial standard since 2009 for use during disasters and it is endorsed by FEMA. It has practical advantages over using geographic coordinates (latitude, longitude) being that it correlates directly to field measurements. Therefore, distances can be accurately calculated between two locations easily, and the precision of locations and measurements can be maintained consistently across the state and nation. Description: Golden Valley is divided between two recycling zones which are serviced on alternating weeks. The two zones are simply identified as the Blue Service Week or the Gray Service Week. This polygon layer serves as a quick reference as to which service week a property falls within.
